Cyber giving
Giving in cyber age
Giving in the electronic age is characterized by streamlined processes and efficiencies that save donors time. But along with these obvious advantages come some significant challenges. One of the greatest challenges facing nonprofit organizations is how to make donors aware of the benefits received through their giving. What difference did the donor make?
Giving challenge existed
Frankly, this challenge existed before e-commerce was created. But it has been exacerbated by online giving platforms that do not even require participation to contribute monthly. Such digitally powered giving platforms ( ie, web-based donation pages, apps, online donor funds, ACH donations, credit card donations, text to give, etc ) tend to disconnect donors from the outcome of their giving. At Mite, we work to capture the efficiencies of cyber giving while at the same time holding true to our mission of giving donors full awareness of how their money is used. Even though our Mite Giving Community may use online methods of giving, they are still regularly connected to the impact of their generosity. We will not let the lack of continuity promoted by electronic commerce used in the charitable giving diminish the Mite donor experience.
Bridging electronic gap
How do we bridge the electronic gap between an online donation and its ultimate impact? We utilize the same digital technology that has advanced our methods of giving to bring our donors directly to the field. The Mite Community experiences directly how their gifts impact the lives of people - even in the remotest parts of the world. Expertly developed digital media and outstanding story telling shows our donors the faces and places their generosity has benefited. It is not easy. It takes thorough planning and a dedicated team to accomplish the task. But we get it done, and we have gotten it done on every Mite project conducted to date (except one; they would not allow us to video in the Superdome.)
Never experienced the Mite way of giving? We encourage you to engage with others in our giving community and join a Mite Project.
