Donor bill of rights

Charity is established in trust. Mite exists to serve donors by taking the guesswork out of giving, and we start with being clear about what every donor can expect from us. In support of our mission and our commitment to transparency, awareness, engagement, celebration, and inspiration, Mite affirms the following rights for every donor, at every gift level:

I. To know Mite's operating structure

You have the right to know Mite's mission, how projects are researched and vetted, and how donated funds are allocated, even before you give.

You have the right to know who directs Mite's operations and governs on Mite's board of directors. You can expect that the board provides independent oversight of the organization's decisions and finances.

II. To trust our financials and stewardship

You have the right to trust that Mite's reported financial information is true and accurate. You can request and review Mite's most recent audited financial statements and IRS Form 990.

You can know that your donations are honored and used according to their proposed use. You can know you project donation(s) go toward accomplishing project outreach; that if we fail to accomplish the intended results of a project, your donation will be moved, according to your instruction, to a new project, guaranteeing impact, as Mite's 100% guarantee states.

You have the right to timely acknowledgement of your gift(s), and to receive updates, documentation, and celebration of the beneficial results your giving made possible. You will enjoy proof of impact on all your charitable giving at Mite.

III. To privacy and confidentiality

You have the right to expect that your personal information, including your giving history, will be held in confidence, used only as permitted by law, and never shared without your consent.

You have the right to expect that every interaction with Mite staff is prompt, professional, and honest. Any Mite representative soliciting a donation will make themselves know as connected with Mite and will conduct themselves respectfully, honoring your consideration of the giving opportunity.

You have the right to be removed from Mite's mailing or contact lists at any time and without pressure to justify the request. You have the right to ask how your gift is being used and to receive a clear, direct response.
