Mite is operated by a team of people who are enthusiastic about charity and doing good around the world! Below are brief bios on the team leadership:

Scott Toal - President/ Executive Director

• Scott is the President and founder of Mite. He founded Mite in 2016 after witnessing a simple moment that reframed how he thought about giving: a watermelon party at a Romanian orphanage in the mid-1990s, and the joy on the children's faces. That experience became the idea behind Mite — a platform built to let every donor witness the impact of their generosity firsthand, not just fund it from a distance. Before Mite, Scott spent more than two decades as an entrepreneur, founding and operating companies across manufacturing, product design, and distribution, including Short Run Pro, Federal Brace, and Killarney Metals. He also directed his family's private foundation for over 30 years, a role that shaped his hands-on approach to donor stewardship and financial accountability long before Mite existed. Scott is a husband and father to seven children.

Madison Illges - Director of Mite Media

• Madison joined Mite in 2017. She has spent nearly a decade helping build what the organization has become. She assisted in hiring and shaping the team and creating Mite’s project vetting and funding process along with building the donor care program that keeps givers connected to the work they fund. She moved through partner relations and project direction before serving four years as Executive Director. Today she leads Mite Media and serves on the governing board. Madison holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Derby and a BBA from EU Business School in Barcelona. She lives in Charlotte with her husband and daughter.

Abigail Toal - Project & Communication Manager

• Abigail Toal leads Mite's project and communications efforts, overseeing the coordination between Mite's donor community and the on-the-ground partners carrying out its projects worldwide. In her more than three years with the organization, she has helped shape how Mite communicates project progress and outcomes back to donors — the documentation, updates, and storytelling that turn a gift into a visible, celebrated result. A graduate of Liberty University, Abigail brings a communications-focused approach to project management, translating field activity into the clear, timely updates donors rely on to stay engaged with the work their giving supports.
