Working with Homeless at Heart throughout Houston, we warmed the hearts of 500 homeless people on Valentine’s Day with boxes of love containing daily essentials and a handwritten card with a personal message from school children to remind the recipients that they matter.

On any given day, there are approximately more than 3,000 people experiencing homelessness in the Houston region.  Even though the city of Houston has worked hard to cut its homeless population in half over the past decade by providing low-cost housing, there are still people experiencing homelessness.

In response to this ongoing challenge, Homeless at Heart began operating to show this population some love and care. Started by an 11-year-old boy whose heart met God's heart when he saw a homeless mother and child on the street, the organization has a very simple mission - show love to the homeless.   Often overlooked and forgotten, a simple act of kindness can demonstrate to these displaced people that they are “seen and valued”

What better day to show love than on the day we celebrate love?  Thanks to Homeless at Heart, Valentine's Day has been different for thousands of Houston’s homeless people.  A simple gift of love in the form of a box filled with daily essentials and a handwritten card has shown them that they are loved.
