Provide the nourishment needed to save the lives of 460 babies in Angola. Partnering with Saving Moses, we’re supplying therapeutic milk that helps reverse Severe Acute Malnutrition and gives these babies the chance to grow healthy and strong.Read more
Project 72: Milk for Life - Angola
Nearly half of all deaths among children under five worldwide are linked to undernutrition. When babies don’t receive enough nutrients during this critical time for growth and development, their tiny bodies begin to waste away. They become dangerously weak, dehydrated, and vulnerable to fatal illnesses they no longer have the strength to fight. Without immediate treatment, their chances of survival are small.
In Angola, one in every sixteen children will not live to see their fifth birthday. A majority of these deaths are linked to Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), a preventable condition rooted not only in food insecurity but also in limited health education. Many caregivers lack access to information about how long to breastfeed, when to introduce solid foods, and what makes up a balanced diet for growing babies. Combined with poverty and limited healthcare access, these gaps create a deadly cycle of malnutrition that leaves thousands of infants fighting for survival.
That’s where our partner, Saving Moses, comes in. Founded out of a deep compassion for the world’s most vulnerable, the organization exists to save babies and toddlers in places where help is least available. In Angola, that mission comes to life through their malnutrition clinics, where every drop of therapeutic milk can mean the difference between life and death.
Through Project 72, our giving community will provide therapeutic milk to treat approximately 460 babies suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) at Saving Moses’s clinics in Angola. This fortified milk is essential for reversing the effects of SAM. Over the course of four to six weeks, babies first receive F-75, a gentle formula that delivers easily digestible calories and electrolytes to stabilize their fragile systems. Once their strength begins to return, they transition to F-100, a higher-calorie milk that helps them regain weight and rebuild healthy growth.
During their stay, both babies and their caregivers receive compassionate care and, just as importantly, the knowledge they need to prevent malnutrition from recurring once they return home.
Together, we can turn the fight against hunger into stories of survival and growth for hundreds of babies in Angola.
