Project 69: Dignity in Every Classroom, Cambodia
We're partnering with a donor favorite yet again — Days for Girls! And this time, we're going big by supporting one of their most ambitious, government-integrated menstrual health programs to date: a national initiative in Cambodia.
Just over 50% of Cambodia's population is female — yet many girls grow up without access to accurate menstrual information or safe, affordable menstrual products. This is called period poverty, and more than 500 million women around the world experience it every month.
In Cambodia, many girls are forced to rely on cloth or even leaves during their periods, leading to school absences due to shame or lack of supplies. Menstrual health is barely addressed in school curricula, and teachers report feeling underprepared to lead these conversations.
The result? Generational silence, stigma, and missed opportunities for girls unable to stay in school.
But that's changing. Days for Girls is working directly with Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport to embed menstrual health education into the national school system and equip teachers to teach these lessons on menstruation with confidence.
For Project 69, our donor community is joining this initiative to support the distribution of 1,000 locally produced washable pad kits and essential educational materials used in both teacher training and student lessons.
This program not only helps Cambodian girls stay in school with dignity — it also sparks community-wide conversations that replace menstrual shame with knowledge and openness.
Let's help make period health education a national norm in Cambodia and ensure no girl is held back because of her period.
