Project 66: Impact Students - Joburg, South Africa
For our first project of 2025, we are teaming up with our longest-standing partner, Impact Africa, in South Africa. For over a decade, their Impact Students program has been a lifeline for at-risk teenagers, equipping them with practical life skills and biblical insights to navigate challenges and realize their potential. Impact Africa has created safe, supportive spaces for over 290,000 students by collaborating with schools in communities facing high poverty, crime, and school dropout rates.
Impact Africa has identified social pressures and a lack of support systems as root causes of high dropout rates, which, in turn, contribute to poverty and crime. Influences like substance abuse and teenage pregnancy are commonplace for the adolescents of these communities, both of which derail their studies. Why do these students fall victim to these influences? Because they aren't taught how to avoid destructive behaviors. Supportive resources, like counseling and mentors, are nonexistent in most schools, leaving students feeling isolated and unprepared to make better choices.
Our partner has found the solution: to meet these students where they are before the problem arises. Through weekly classroom visits during free periods, Impact Student Mentors offer guidance on academics, career planning, and personal challenges while building meaningful relationships with the students.
With Project 66, we will support Impact Africa's mission to reach 70,000 students this year, equipping them with life skills like goal-setting and critical thinking, all grounded in Biblical insights. Your donation today will help teenagers break free from harmful cycles and choose to live out purpose-driven futures.
