On 4 April 2021, Tropical Cyclone Seroja ripped through parts of eastern Indonesia, inflicting terrible hardship on the island's communities. We have partnered with the faith-based organization TMC Indonesia to rebuild homes for 15 families in Olais Village.

Tropical Cyclone Seroja brought heavy rain for 9 hours leading to flash flooding and landslides, leaving thousands of people displaced. The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reported that as many as 509,604 persons were affected by the storm, with 11,406 people displaced, 181 deaths, 271 injuries, 45 missing persons, and 66,036 houses were reportedly damaged in East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara provinces.

The whole region suffered extensive infrastructure damage, including utilities and roads. Beyond initial emergency response, these remote regions have had little rehabilitation support. Instead, these communities have lived in rickety makeshift lodgings for almost one year and are desperate to rebuild their lives. They have endured the trauma of a natural disaster and continue to bear the traumatic aftermath of struggling to survive the elements with no real place to call home.

When we rebuild a house, we are rebuilding a home. When we recover from disaster, we are rebuilding lives and livelihoods. (Sri Mulyani Indrawati)

We ask for your help in rebuilding the homes and the lives of these ravaged communities. We aim to raise $25,000, covering all materials, logistics, and labor to put roofs on over 15 families' heads.

Your generosity will give these resilient communities hope and a chance to rebuild their families lives.
