In partnership with Young Black Leadership Alliance(YBLA) andSamaritan’s Feet, we provided shoes and socks to 316 students at Hidden Valley Elementary School in Charlotte, where 40% of students live in poverty and 20% are homeless. Now they can stand proud in their new shoes on Martin Luther King Day.

Did you know shoes are the 5th most needed item by students in the U.S?

Mite is honored to partner with YBLA, an organization that is active among the black community in Charlotte, and Samaritan’s Feet International, which is an organization working hard to create a world with zero shoeless children. This is especially important at a school like Hidden Valley, which enrolls 100% economically disadvantaged students.

Beyond shoes, we also plan to distribute lunch packs, school uniform shirts and toiletry bags filled with essential items for students to have more of the things they need so they can spend more time focused on their studies and less time worrying about going without.

Martin Luther King Day is a holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Junior. This special day on January 21st, celebrates the life and achievements of an influential American civil rights leader. When you give your Mite to Project 13: MLK Day Outreach you will be joining these outstanding organizations in their mission and showing children love!
