Project 11: Hearing Aids for Honduras Part 2

With the help of Parson's Ministries and BMDMI in Honduras, we brought the gift of hearing to those living in silence, with solar-powered hearing aids for 20 deaf people in Guaimaca villages. Each solar-powered pair hosts a battery that lasts for up to 5 years so they are more sustainable than battery-operated aids.Read more

With the help of Parson's Ministries and BMDMI in Honduras, we brought the gift of hearing to those living in silence, with solar-powered hearing aids for 20 deaf people in Guaimaca villages. Each solar-powered pair hosts a battery that lasts for up to 5 years so they are more sustainable than battery-operated aids.

We have the opportunity to partner with Parson's Ministries and BMDMI in Honduras on their annual medical mission to touch the lives of thousands of people with free healthcare. Parsons Ministries operates a self-supported medical mission that does outreach around the world. With the help of volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, and other medical professionals who support their own costs to travel to remote areas and conduct much-needed medical clinics, surgeries, and training.

Our Mites will be used to provide hearing aids for those who have lost their hearing and cannot afford the cost to correct it, as well as providing medical treatment to the remote villages surrounding Guaimaca.

Last year we assisted with a similar outreach and saw people's lives changed, including a grandmother who took care of her handicapped grandson being able to hear him for the first time and a 17-year-old boy who got to hear his mother's voice for the first time in his life.

It costs thousands of dollars to get a pair of battery-powered hearing aids in the United States. Using conventionally powered hearing aids in developing nations like Honduras is costly and not a viable answer because of the high expense of batteries and maintenance. Solar-powered hearing aids reduce those costs by as much as 86 percent, drastically increasing the feasibility and availability of hearing aid treatment in developing countries.

For only $125 per pair, we will give a deaf person a brand new set of solar-powered hearing aids. This is a remarkable solution that is not only cost-effective and sustainable but will help people with a hearing disability to participate more fully in life now that they can hear.  We feel so privileged to partner with Parsons Ministres for this fantastic initiative and are looking forward to your support to help us make it happen.
